Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Serves 2-4 portions (makes 4 burgers)

Ingredients:

400g tofu drained and sliced into 4 blocks

Some olive oil for frying

Marinade

1 teaspoon maple syrup

2 tablespoons tamari sauce

½ teaspoon ginger powder

2 teaspoons brown rice miso paste

2 tablespoons apple vinegar

2 teaspoons onion powder

2 teaspoons sesame oil

Serve with wholegrain bread, salad, chopped chives, fresh coriander and optionally some sprouts.

Preparation:

  1. Drain the tofu and cut into 4 blocks.
  2. Mix the marinade ingredients together. Leave the tofu blocks in the marinade for at least 5-10 minutes but for longer if you have time. The longer they are in the marinade the more they will absorb the flavours.
  3. Heat the olive oil on a medium to high heat. Once the olive oil is warm add in the tofu burgers and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until both sides become crispy.
  4. Serve with wholegrain bread, the salad ,the chopped chives, the fresh coriander and the sprouts if desired.

Where does your protein come from?

It comes from the tofu which is a complete protein and is relatively high in protein too.
